Resume Writing Tips - Describing Your Past ExperiencesIn resume writing, writing a description of the candidate's past achievements is considered as a vital component in the job interview. It is very important to come up with a good and credible resume, but it is a better option to come up with a well-written description in order to get a job interview.A description is always more efficient than a long paragraph filled with legalese and jargon, especially when the description is on your resume. So, here are some tips to write your resume effectively and productively:Start off by writing about the requirements or responsibilities that you want to include in your resume. Explain in brief what your goals are for the job, the number of years of experience and how these experiences have helped you achieve your goals. In this way, your resume will highlight your skills, qualifications and accomplishments in the job that makes you the perfect candidate for the job.If you do not have any exp erience, then it is advisable to describe what it is that you have done so far. It is much better to start out by saying that you have some training in the past, if possible, such as a job interview. To provide an example, say that you have been a typist at a printing company for some time and you were able to notice the requirements that they have laid down for new employees. Explain this in your resume.Describe your strengths, in the most concise and simple manner possible. If you have the capacity to perform well in various situations, do so. Describe your skills such as your knowledge, computer skills, the dedication to your work, your leadership qualities and other relevant skills.Describe the areas that you excel in and are good at. You may also want to highlight those areas that you have the potential to excel in. Do not be too repetitive, so don'tcopy an exact copy of another resume. Choose to emphasize those areas of expertise that are worth highlighting.Take the time to co me up with a description that you can easily put down to paper and transcribe. Make sure that the descriptions you come up with have your resume written in them. Avoid using acronyms or other jargon in your resume; instead, speak plain English so that it is easy for potential employers to understand what you are trying to say. Your first written statement should be your best attempt at describing yourself so you can be sure that you are providing a fair and accurate description of yourself.

Leap Day Feb. 29 Should Be National Holiday, Says Zappos Most companies’ idea of going all out for Leap Day involves quirky sales or freebies, but one online retailer wants to go the next step and make Feb. 29 a day that all American workers eagerly anticipate. This year Zappos.com has big aims for those extra 24 hours that only appear every four years. The company will give all 1,600 of its employees a paid day off on Monday, Feb. 29. And it’s not stopping with its own workers. Zappos, which is owned by Amazon, is campaigning for Congress and the White House to give all non-essential workers the day off on Leap Day, just as they do with Independence Day or Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Only in the case of Leap Day, the day off would come once every four years, not annually. The company’s website explains its reasoning as: “Leap Day is a bonus day, and it should be used as a bonus day to do good â€" for your community, your family, or yourself.” To help achieve this dream, Zappos has created a Change.org petition to get Leap Day declared a federal holiday and launched a hashtag campaign, #TakeTheLeap, asking people what they would do with the extra paid time off. “We’re big proponents of our culture that encourages out-of-the-box thinking and bold stunts,” Zappos spokesperson Kristin Richmer told Adweek. “So celebrating Leap Day in a big way simply makes sense for us as a brand, while maybe not so much for other brands. We want to give that day back to the people.”

Related: Best Advice For An Interview If you have a hard time remembering relevant examples to use during job interviews, I’ve got an interview hack for you: Create a Google Doc of examples you can showcase during an interview. Make sure to update this doc on a regular basis. Why is this helpful? Because, when you land an interview, you won’t have to worry about remembering all of those important accomplishments or challenges you overcame. Instead, you’ll just have to pull up your Google Doc with your most prominent experiences and figure out which ones apply. Having this running list of experiences will make it easier for you to bring up examples during your interviews. Here are three things you should make note of in your doc: Quantifiable Accomplishments Keep track of your quantifiable accomplishments so you can use them in both your resume and interview answers. Use percentages whenever possible and tie your accomplishments to numbers. Numbers are everything!! Check out this post to learn how to quantify your accomplishments. Challenges You’ve Overcome What are some challenges you’ve had to overcome in order to get promoted, get the client, or work better on a team? How did you do it? Knowing these is extremely important. Employers look for examples like these. Stories That Showcase Your Enthusiasm For Your Work What makes you so enthusiastic about your work? Be specific â€" Tell a story. Document some real examples as they happen. These real stories will set you apart from the generic answers so many people give during interviews. You don’t want to just TELL them “you love helping people,” you want to SHOW them by telling a story about WHY you love helping people and by giving them a real example to work off of. Showing enthusiasm is a crucial element to nailing interviews. They want to know you’re passionate about the work. Jot down those reasons whenever you have one of those “today was great!” days.
